I love car audio for its ability to take me back in time, to moments in my life that actually meant something. Cruising with friends, running laps to sweat off a few pounds for wrestling, or even a graduation - my grad song was Trooper - We're Here For A Good Time (Not A Long Time).

A few weeks ago, my daughter won a district track meet. On the drive home, "Fly" by Sugar Ray came on. I said, "You hear this song? You'll always remember this day when you hear it."

Since then, I've caught her listening to it on her own, even singing along.

Music is a time machine. It doesn't just remind you of a moment, it transports you right back to it and I can play as loud as I want!

Let me ask you a few questions -

  • Does this happen to you?

  • If you new to Car Audio, what made you get into it or if you did Car Audio in the past, what brought you back?

  • I want to know, what is your favorite song, to crank on your system?

    • Mine is - Turbo Lover by Judas Priest!

June Recap - Use YOUR Ears!!

June was a mix of community and hands-on content. We kicked off the month with a conversation-style video, sitting down with the "I Still Love Car Audio" channel to talk sound quality, the car audio hobby, and what keeps enthusiasts coming back. If you're into the community side of this hobby, it's worth a watch. The direct link to the Behind the Dashboard Podcast can be for here.

Mid-month, we got into the garage for a speaker upgrade on a second-gen Tacoma, featuring the Focal IS TOY 690 component set. If you've been wondering whether a factory speaker swap is worth it on a Tacoma, we put that question to rest.

Both videos are live now on the channel. Head over to Car Audio Obsessed on YouTube to check them out, and if you haven't subscribed yet, now's a good time.

BTW, RAW-cat is back for another Interview next week…
